Smart test-taking skills can often also be more helpful than learning an additional 2,000 words, many of which will be somewhat obscure. This is why reading regularly and having a deep understanding of how words are used in context is super important, in addition to actively engaging with practice questions (for more on that, check out our post on how to avoid GRE score plateau). Read the questions carefully and don’t pick answer choices that “kind of work.” I often tell students that developing these skills is just as important as learning words.
